Role Description The Director of Government Affairs is a full-time, remote role responsible for shaping and leading ClimateCard.xyz’s public policy and regulatory strategy. This role involves building and maintaining relationships with government agencies, legislators, and regulatory bodies at the local, state, national, and international levels. The Director will monitor policy developments relevant to climate action, carbon markets, and blockchain technology, and will advocate for supportive legislation and regulations. Day-to-day duties include developing policy positions, drafting briefing materials, coordinating lobbying activities, representing the organization in hearings and stakeholder meetings, and collaborating with internal teams on compliance and strategic initiatives. The Director will also help identify opportunities for public-private partnerships and contribute to thought leadership on climate policy and digital climate solutions.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in governmental affairs and government relations, with a focus on climate, environmental policy, or emerging technologies.
- Experience in legislative relations and lobbying, including drafting policy briefs, testimony, and advocacy materials.
- Knowledge of state government processes and regulatory frameworks related to carbon markets, sustainability, or financial technology.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with policymakers, regulators, and industry stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, research, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex policy issues into clear recommendations.
- Experience working in or with government agencies, legislative offices, trade associations, NGOs, or mission-driven startups.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Law, Environmental Studies, or a related field; an advanced degree (e.g., JD, MPP, MBA) is an asset.
- Commitment to climate action, equity, and transparent digital solutions; comfort working independently in a fully remote, fast-paced environment.
